The global biopharmaceuticals market, in 2009, was $106 billion, which is the fastest growing segment of the pharmaceutical market and forecasted to grow with a CAGR of 11.2% by 2016. China is the largest market of Asia Pacific region and third largest in the world, biopharmaceutical and biosimliars market are set to see a booming growth in 2011-2012.
Big pharmas have given China a very bright outlook as well. Multinational pharmas such as Novo Nordisk, Pfizer, Novartis, Genzyme among others have all opened their biotherapeutic R&D center recently.
In the meantime, the local biopharmaceutical enterprises are beginning to meet international standards and are aspiring to be the creator and innovator of the world's supply of high quality biopharmaceutical products, a silent revolution is underway to create a favourable environment for the rapid development of the biologics R&D scene.
