According to a government expert, the viral virus that has been spreading across China and other borders are declared to be highly contagious between humans.
Mr. Zhong, a renowned scientist at the National Health Commission said that patients can get infected by the virus without ever visiting the city and but can be infected by the human to human contact.
The number of people that have been diagnosed with the new virus has risen to 218 from 17, just a week before.
He also predicted that there would be an increase of reported cases during the Chinese New Year holiday as millions travel across the country.
The new coronavirus strain was first discovered in Wuhan and has since then was likened to the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) epidemic that caused over 600 deaths across the country back in 2002-2003 due to its contagious nature.
Xinhua news agency reported that public gatherings should be reduced or canceled to prevent the further spreading of the virus.
They also added that body temperature checks of commuters at airports, railway stations and wharves should be implemented and closures of related markets should be considered.
The World Health Organization (WHO) organized an emergency meeting to determine the extent of the outbreak and discuss proper measures implemented accordingly.
