In drug discovery, lysates enable target identification, enzyme activity assays, and Western blot analysis for pathway confirmation. In biologics manufacturing, cell lysates may be generated during downstream processing, requiring effective clarification and impurity removal strategies. Lysate-based systems also support cell-free expression technologies and rapid prototyping in synthetic biology.
